The proof is in the pudding
Pro Bono
[prō, for + bonō, ablative of bonum, the good]
Sometimes a person or an organisation catches our eye in the newspaper, or on the street, or tacked up on the noticeboard. And sometimes we have the luxury of being able to offer a web site creation in exchange for good will. When those two 'sometimes' coincide, a new web site graces the world.
Katoomba Men's Shed
The 'Katoomba Men's Shed' is a place for men to share skills, knowledge, life-experiences, and work together on practical projects for the whole community. A front page article in the local paper one week was enough to convince us that the Katoomba Men's Shed would be well worth creating a web site for.
So, we got in touch, created a site, created a logo, donated some training so that the Katoomba Men's Shed could update and maintain the site themselves, and kms.org.au is the end result.
The community behind the virtual
he internet is seldom thought of as a 'go-local' medium, but working on a project can be a whole lot more satisfying when you get to meet and work alongside people in the neighbourhood. Beyond this web site, we recognise our role as a member of our local community, supporting and supported by the people who also live and work here.
Most of the web sites we make and seek to make are created for the people we see when we drop off the youngsters to child care, or meet occasionally in the queue at the grocery store, or fall into conversation with at 'the local', whose interests and aspirations outside the mundane can be well served by the creating a 24-7 worldwide virtual space, limiting largely by the imagination, and the medium of web coding.
